Only 'standard vga graphics adapter' showing in device manager.

Hi guys and girls,

So back story:

Ive built a rig using AMD parts as follows:
-amd fx6300 cpu black edition
-sapphire Radeon R9 380
- gigabyte mobo (970a) I think. it's compatable anyway.
-16gb of good ram
- 2 x 250gb HDD

So it's all up and running however it doesn't seem to detect my GPU.
As in description it shows in device manager standard vga graphics adapter.

I have tried:
- searching for drivers manually and through internet.
- updating drivers
- searching for new hardware
- updated Windows all updates recommended and some other updates.
- used zuid to see if it detects it, it doesn't and only shows vga adapter but gives a Radeon logo next to it.

Because my system does not detect the gpu I can't use 3rd party software to update drivers automatically.

I should note what I found last night was that I installed a 32 bit version of Windows 7 OS.
I have a Windows activator so I will be downloading 64 BIT THIS EVENING As this is the only thing I can think of that maybe causing this, however I have not seen in specs that this would be causing issue.

I want to hit the ground running when I get back from work so any ideas would be appreciated.

In bios (advanced mode)there is a setting for what graphics output to use, needs to be on pcie and not onboard. then windows should play nice and install the cards drivers

Make sure the monitor is plugged into the graphics card (not the motherboard), then download and install the drivers straight from AMD

Would it be that as there is no onboard outputs of any type ie. VGA / dvi etc?

I haven't looked for that in bios but I will.

What is your power supply brand and model? Try testing a lower power video card in the system.

Aerocool 600w is the psu. I have an old gtx GeForce 650 that could be powered with 2 AAA batteries so will try that as well.

Aerocool is garbage tier PSU, might not be the cause of the problem but not recommended.

I'd replace the power supply, you don't want something low quality powering a system with a R9 380. Keep in mind that the power supply connects to everything, if it's cheap and unstable, you can damage every component, not worth the savings of $20 over a good quality unit to have a greater chance of killing the motherboard or video card or CPU or everything.

So I popped in the gtx 650 and it installed all the drives and registered on device manager etc. Works fine, well it works... So I'm possibly dealing with a dead gpu/shitty psu/or the fact the gpu requires 64bit Windows os. (That would us e been a must anyway just installed wrong windows)
It can't be the mobo not having the pcie as usuable display. Agree disagree?

So the issue was that the gpu is not plug and play. Drivers will not install after connecting. Also this was made worse by the driver install system from AMD requires Windows 64bit operating system to download.
There must have been an I stall disc with gpu that I miss placed. So after installing 64bit OS and downloading the driver install for the gpu all good.
On a side note the psu will be changed to a more stable power supply probably impliment the one from my Intel machine and upgrade my Intel.

You said in your first post that you downloaded the drivers for it which is why we though it was a possible hardware issue.
