Only the same cards can be connected via SLI?

Must be 2 RTX 2070 or Can I use a GTX 970 with an RTX 2070?

No need to be the same brand but yes they should be the same GPUs if you wish use SLI but other than that you can plug two type of cards and start working with them as long as you have 2 PCI-e lanes on the motherboard.
