I don't know what happened. I downloded the latest ASUS update utility. Flashed the new 1011 beta bios. Now my comp is dead. No boot, no bios. Doh!!!!!!!!!!! Beware of the 1011 bios. Anyone else have this kind of problem? Could I have done anything wrong. I guess I will have to call ASUS and order another CMOS chip. Of cource today was a holiday.
I hope it doesn't cost me too much. I already had to spend a few bucks to get my old comp back up. The good news is I had to get a power supply for my old comp. So I decided to get a Antec true 480 and switch it with the raidmax PSU in my new setup.

Sometimes it's possible to reflash the BIOS from a BIOS-boot-disk. I'm not sure about ASUS though, I got MSI. Check the ASUS web site. Usually you have to put a BIOS on a diskette with some specific name, boot while pressing some obscure keys on the keyboard, pray to God and keep your fingers crossed.

This worked for me in the same situation, give it a shot and see what happens.

On your m/b, change the CPU multiplier setting switches so that your CPU will run underclocked. This should allow you to boot up - then shut down, reset the switches and boot again. In my case this solved the problem, my board too was totally dead until I tried this.

Let us know if it works.

 My CPU runs so hot it creates a quark-gluon plasma

Check your motherboard manual. I'm pretty sure you can use the CD that came with your board to reflash the BIOS back tot he original. I'm at work now, so I can't check.

Thanks for the replies. To Wingding. I don't think this MB has jumpers.

To warspasm. Yes the manual says that the MB will detect bad bios and give you the ability to flash them. But it does not work. Must be the beta bios or it got messed up really bad. The only thing I get is my keyboard lights flash. No picture at all. I tried putting in a floppy with the latest bios. Nothing. I have a new BIOS chip on order. Cost me 25 bucks. Should be here in a week. I'll have to get by until then. At least I'll have an extra chip if this happens again in the future.

Well, u cud have RMAed the mobo and got it fixed for free. When my ASUS A7V8X died, i sent it back and it cost me nothing. Not even the shipping charges.

Hi all,
Got the chip yesterday. Got the system back up. The 1011 bios were bad. I tread flashing them again and got the same results. The 1011's have vanished from the ASUS web site. I hot flashed the chip back to the 1010 bios. All is good now.

These specs are here so I don't have to repeat them. P4 2.4c @ 3.0 ASUS P4P800 dx Geil pc4000 2.5,3,3,6 250FSB 1:1 Radeon 9500 non-pro 2 Maxtor 60gig 7200rpm 8mb cach in raid 0 SB Audigy 2

Thanks. Ya it's good to have her back up. My old computer came in handy. They were beta bios though. So you take your chances. It's cool to have an extra chip. It won't be a worry to try beta's again.
