Open a dell Inspiron

Must be so simple....my new Dell Inspiron 17 just came via FedEx but I don't dare force the lid. Is there a button or trick? I just want to open it up and turn it on!

I know this may sound off, but are you sure you are trying to open it from the correct side and not from the back. I have seen people do that a lot.
