I wasn't expecting webOS open source. Often times software companies simply let their failed products die and refuse to allow anyone to touch it, even if the source codes are nearly or more than a decade old.

Yeah. Palm had won some suits when Apple had claims against them. It's pretty well established at this point that the WebOS platform isn't going to be shut down by Apple.
WebOS is awesome. I love how it handles mutltasking, and notifications. About the only reason I even use ICS on my Touchpad is for the App support. Hoping that open sourcing it might make it appealing enough to begin to change that.
