I've made virus scan and nothing was found, also tried to clean thumbnail cache without resolve. Funnily enough no other folder does the same, which can be much larger. What to do?

A few things you might want to consider reviewing more in detail:

1. Do the files in the folder get scanned from a security software program before opening? or, do you have a security program constantly scanning as files come and go?

2. Are any of the files related to .wav extensions, if yes, there is a hotfix from Microsoft specific to this.

Other helpful article I found online suggests that it could be related to "User Profile Corruption". Check it out here https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...ndows-10/c651899c-e317-4f08-ae39-025644ef7897

Solution
What's the file size?
What type of file?
Can you provide more details about the file?
If the file names in the folder are extremely long that could also cause a surge in resource use. What exactly is in that folder?
I wasn't able to pinpoint the issue to specific file, but the folder is around 1,5Gb and consist mostly of jpgs, but also pngs and webms - it's an unsorted folder from my scanned sketches and screen captures that are waiting to be edited or deleted. Files are named in the date format YYMMDD-HHMMSS.

  1. I recently changed from Win7 to Win10 and have Windows Defender which came with the update, but not sure if it scans continously during the browsing.
  2. No .wav files were found in that folder.
  3. I haven't used the store to download apps. Wonder if it's installed automatically? Whatever the case I'll dig deeper to the discussions you linked. Thanks!
