Usually I can open any MP3 file without issue and listen to it but lately some of the MP3 files I open pop up the "Do you want to open this file?" Open File - Security Warning box.

Why would it be doing this with some of my MP3s? Doing some testing it seems like it may be ones that I bought off Amazon or Google lately.

Never had this problem before until upgrading to Windows 10 it feels like. Sure never happened on any other OS i was on before 10.

It will likely be because you have not selected a default program to open any file with a .MP3 file extension.

But have multiple programs installed on your system that can open and read the .mp3 file format for audio music playback.

Simply right click on any file with a .Mp3 file extension and select choose default program to open with selecting your favourate playback software such as Vlc media player.

After that all mp3 files with playback by opening Vlc player by default without the do you what to open this file.
also tick the check box if it pops up and select never ask me again.

Opening some MP3s pops up "Do you want to open this file?"
Usually I can open any MP3 file without issue and listen to it but lately some of the MP3 files I open pop up the "Do you want to open this file?" Open File - Security Warning box.

I have Winamp set as default player. So far it looks like mp3's I bought off amazon or google.

Looking at the properties between an MP3 that opens no problem vs a problem MP3...under the GENERAL tab at the bottom under Attibutes it says "Security: This file came from another computer and might be blocked to help protect this computer". No idea why it would say that for some mp3s.

Never had this problem before until upgrading to Windows 10 it feels like. Sure never happened on any other OS i was on before 10.

Figured it out. First...to batch unblock the files I just followed this

http://winaero.com/blog/batch-unblock-files-downloaded-from-internet-in-windows-10/

And to make sure it doesn't happen to any more MP3 files downloaded I did this:

RUN- gpedit.msc >> User Configuration >> Administrative Templates >> Windows Components >> Attachment Manager >> Tick "Enable" for "Do not preserve zone information in file attachments"

New files downloaded after this point should be fine and not blocked.
