Openreach Installed This, What Is it?

Hi we've had openreach on our street doing something with the line and I was just wondering if anyone knew what this thing was they have installed a thick black overhead cable,. Anyone may know what this is, thanks.

looks to be new phone/cable lines.
The large black piece is a splice cover.

It says on the label. 50 pair (copper) phone cable.

Will these have any better performance for speeds as its connected to a fibre line at the end and copper to property or the same as installed from before? Thanks

What? That's just a voice cable, how that have a "speed" performance? DSL? Also where did you see mentioned fiber?
