operating system not found

I have sony vaio, model name SVE1413XPNB, operating system windows 8. Sometimes, it shows error "SECURE BOOT FAILED AND OPERATING SYSTEM INVALID". I have refreshed my computer and also restored factory setting. After doing these situation improved for a while, but again laptop hangs sometimes, sometime every programs closes itself. I don't know what is happening to it. What might be the problem with this....this all started after i put a local adapter to my laptop, well this might be a mere coincidence.
