This rig is going to be designed very specifically to match a color scheme that I am attempting to recreate. The case is going to be custom designed by myself to match the specifications (I have quite a history with auto body. I doubt it will be any issue.) Right now, I'm looking for a rating as well as a compatibility check and any other comments.

Spoiler: This is not my build. This is the build I am attempting to reference from.

CPU- Core i5 2500k
Heatsink - Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo
Paste - Arctic Silver 5
Mobo - ASRock Extreme3 Gen3
PSU- LEPA G900 900w
GPU - Radeon HD 6670
RAM - Corsair Vengeance 8 GB
DVD - ASUS DRW SATA 24x
Case - Rosewill Challenger
SSD - Samsung 830 64GB
HDD - 180 GB Seagate Barracuda 7200 RPM

Future Upgrades
GPU - GTX 560 Ti SLI
Case- NZXT Phantom with windowed side panel
HDD - 1 or 2 TB 7200 RPM HDD

I also do have two questions
1) I was told that yellow/gold cathodes do not exist, yet in the image I provided, it shows having yellow cathodes. Do these exist? If so, where can I buy them? If not, how do I make them?
2) I've been looking for yellow fans like the one in the picture. Do these exist or are they custom?

Solution

I may be off the mark here but I would guess that the case you have in the spoiler is using LEDs as opposed to cathodes.

You can get yellow LED strips. Or amber ones and some orange ones are very gold-ish.

Here's a company that seems to specialize in computer...

Here's a company that seems to specialize in computer LEDs. Please note: I am not recommending them since I know nothing about them. They are just the result of a google search.

For a fan you can go with something like:

or

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=224980&CatId=802

Or any other fan that uses yellow.

You may also try your luck with "warm" lighting off of white LEDs.

Solution
If your putting so much work into the aesthetic of the rig, why skimp on almost everything inside?

CPU: No point for Sandy Bridge now, get the i5 3570k.

Heatsink: Good choice

Thermal Paste: The 212 EVO comes with some, no need for more.

Mobo: Get the newer AsRock mobo, the Z77 Extreme4. Same aesthetic but better chipset and more features. Will go better with the Ivy Bridge CPU I suggested.

PSU: Absolutely no reason for 900W, 600W is all you would need on a single GPU system. I dont even recognize that brand. Make sure its 80+ Bronze (or better) and fully modular.

GPU: Laughably underpowered for a rig with this much bling on it. Get a HD7850 at minimum, a GTX670 at most.

RAM: Good choice

Case: This is personal preference, but I would advise against that case. Weak front I/O connectivity, no side panel for the looks (which you evidently care about), and doesn't look all that great cable management wise (dont want rainbow coloured cables everywhere in your build). Get something from the Corsair or HAF series.

SSD: Would suggest bigger, but its good for a boot drive and a couple of programs.

HDD: 180GB of storage wont go far. I say get a 1TB, or 500GB at minimum.

Future upgrades:
The SLI 560Ti is hardly a good upgrade, you'd be better off with just a better single GPU.
Case: you should just get a decent one to begin with.
HDD: you should already have a decent amount of storage.

Those aren't cathodes, but LED's. You might be able to wire them together yourself or buy some pre made strips, though good luck finding yellow strips. Usually they come in red, blue and white (with the occasional green). No Newegg link, but heres something like the stuff you would need.

As above, Yellow isn't a popular colour so you'd be hard pressed to find ones that are yellow out of the box. Chances are the builder has painted the blades themselves.

Its evident you don't have much money for this, and the computer itself is being sacrificed instead of the aesthetics. If you follow through with that build, you'l have a display piece. All show and no go.

You will have to drop some money into this, the more you skimp on parts now, the more work you have to do later to make it better. Get a 180GB HDD for say $30-40 now, that will run out and you get a 1TB for $99. Get an old GPU for $150, buy a better one later for $300, case for $50 now, and then get a decent one later for $150-200, etc, etc. You will save yourself a ton of cash in the long run to just spend it now, and you wont have to put up with old hardware until then.

I've seen the 2500k clocked at 4.5 or at the minimum 4.0 as well as the extreme 5.0 limits. I don't see a need to upgrade to Ivy at the moment (plus I'm getting the parts I listed for either extremely cheap, or free). Normally, I would have gone with a Z77 but this is not main rig, it's a rig for a competition I'm doing. The build is meant to be all flash and a decent amount of brawn. That's kind of why I decided to go with the 560 Ti or the 570 because they have the orange/gold coloration.

Edit: I replaced the case with an NZXT Phantom 410 (black and orange). This is arguably one of the better cases for mid towers.

The power supply is Gold Certified. I'm not worried about it.
