Hello everyone,

I've decided to change computer. Of course, I'm building it myself to get the most out of my money. I made the "setup" on NCIX.ca, and this is what I can get for 1600$, CAN dollars.

Processor : Intel Haswell i7-4770k
Motherboard : ASUS Sabertooth Z87
Video card : Gigabyte GTX770
Memory : Corsair Vengeance 16Gb (2x8Gb) PC3-12800
HDD : Seagate Barracuda 1Tb 7200RPM
SSD : Samsung 840 Pro 128Gb
Computer case : Corsair Carbide 500R
Power Supply : Corsair TX650W
Heatsink : BeQuiet Dark Rock Pro 2

It's for gaming, and also 3D and video editing/rendering, hence why the i7 is needed, along with the 16Gb of RAM and the Nvidia GPU.

My question : is it a good build? Could I get better components for the same budget?

I'm looking for a quiet and cool build, I don't want noise or heating issues, hence why I chosed a Sabertooth and a Gigabyte GPU.

Any feedback and opinions on this build would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks a lot, and have a wonderful evening!

Best regards,
Charles

personally is go with a maximus vi hero over the sabertooth since it has some better features and is a bit cheaper. either will work though. that whole tuf thing with the cooling is a joke and dont expect it to be great with that little itsy bitsy fan on it.

gtx770 4gb is due out mid july. perhaps wait for that

do you really need a pro drive? while very nice you can buy a normal 840 with more capacity for the same price.

i'd suggest full tower for better cooling and temps but your choice. that case doesnt look bad.

go with a HX series psu not a CX or TX

heatsink is up to you... i would suggest a corsair cpu cooling loop though.

Here's an update, a new build that I made, it's ready to be ordered, but I'd like some more feedback!

I live in Canada, and will be ordering from NCIX.ca or Newegg.ca. It's for 3D modelling and rendering, and other heavy applications.

Here's what I made :

Processor/Motherboard - Intel i7-4770k + MSI MPower Z87 (combo pack)
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.1348323

Video card - Gigabyte GTX770 2Gb
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125463

Memory - Corsair Vengeance 16Gb (2x8) Pc3-12800
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233299

Case - Fractal Design Define R4 (with window)
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811352021

PSU - Corsair TX650W 80+ Bronze
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139005

HDD - Seagate Barracuda 1Tb - 7200Rpm
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148697

SSD - Samsung 840 Pro 128Gb
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147192

And that's it! I have a CD/DVD burner and a Wifi card. I'll use the stock heatsink for now, and get a BeQuiet Dark Rock Pro 2 in a few months.

What do you think of the build ? I want something that is silent and that has good cooling, hence why I chosed the Define R4 and the Gigabyte GTX770.

What could/should I upgrade to have a better build ?

Total price : 1540$, 1670$ with taxes and shipping

Thanks a lot!
Charles
