[SOLVED] Opinions on 4K vs 2K?

I am currently using an Acer Predator XB271HUABMIPRZ. It's a 27", 1440P, 165Hz, 1ms, VA panel. I have been keeping an eye on 4K monitors for a while now. My main reason for upgrading would be a jump to a 32" monitor. I've never seen a 4K display so I don't know what I'm missing but my 1440P looks pretty darn good to me.

Is it worth sacrificing the FPS while gaming and pushing my GPU to it's limits for 4K. I am playing Cyberpunk 2077 right now and I have everything set to ultra including ray tracing and have DLSS set to quality and I am getting an average of 70FPS. It seems to me if I went 4K I would have to turn down some settings or turn DLSS to max performance.

I know some people will say that 1440P 32" won't look good but I am currently using Windows scaling at 150%, so not too concerned with that. Obviously a 1440P will be cheaper than a 4K. I'm really wondering if 4K is worth it visually over a 2K?

With a 3080, you can game at 4k resolution.
With a 4k monitor, you always can run at a lower resolution if you want.
If you can, go see one in person.

Maybe I'll stop by Bestbuy and see if they have some on display. Don't really want to spend more than 1K. I like the MSI Optix MPG321UR-QD that was linked on here the other day. It's not available anywhere though.

Look at a 48" LG OLED 4K C1 TV.
The image is stunning and it will do 120hx with a 3080 card.
Costco has them and I imagine best buy would also. They are about $1200.

I've thought about getting a huge monitor but I sit about 3 ft from it so I don't really want to go that big. That is 2" bigger than my living room tv. LOL.

I sit about 24" from the unit. Seems perfect to me.

The difference between 2K & 4K is as night & day.
Unfortunately, if you’re a gamer, and you’re playing those AAA games, you’ll have to always buy the best GPU available on the market (just to be playable: 60FPS+).

My opinion is I'm not chasing the frames at 4k and becoming indentured to Nvidia/AMD for life buying the top card every release.
