Just wanting a few different peoples opinions on what they would build for this budget! My budget is £1000/$1600 ( monitor included in this)! The rig will be mostly used for gaming and would prefer for the rig to play the top demanding games at the highest settings now and the next couple years! Any suggestions welcome :)

That's not budget build...

Solution

in my opinion, OP would be better suited for the future running an i7-4790K at stock speed with stock cooler.

he will benefit from the extra threads, it's just not as apparent in current games. the question is: in 3 years can you say the same? answer: no one knows for sure, but chances are games will be utilizing the extra threads in the near future. thats the beauty of technology - it advances at an exponential rate. i, personally, would rather invest the money in a better chip instead of a cooler which can always be added later

it is worth it to get an ssd. load times will be significantly faster. this is a new build including a smaller ssd just for OS and a couple games.

and come to think of it, that monitor is insufficient.

if you dont mind going over budget for a better monitor 60Hz means max 60fps. if 60 is enough, no point in getting such a powerful system, and you could spend the money on better storage.

there is actually. of course the gain from 30 to 60 is much greater than 60 to 90 (etc), the gain is still there. diminishing returns, but still returns. its a matter of preference. or maybe higher res is your preference... if you're happy with that display, but still willing to extend your budget a bit, bigger ssd like 240gb intel 730 series or samsung 840 evo

EDIT: xbone runs cod: aw at 60 fps and has to sacrifice resolution at times to achieve this steady frame rate. ps4 maintains 1080p but drops to high-40s fps. 4*90k + gtx 970 will dance at 1080p 90fps(game's limit)

not having a cpu cooler would cause a huge problem, your cpu would overheat and destroy itself. most cpus come with a stock cooler, though, which is built to keep the cpu cool at stock settings. you could definitely get a cheaper system that would still out perform the consoles for around 600USD but it wouldn't get max settings and would need an upgrade much sooner

So much bad information....
1) In a few years he would have enough to get the i7. Right now, he doesn't have the budget. If you overspend on the GPU and CPU, the other parts doesn't get enough quality. Even though that's extra threads, it's still not worth spending that much.
2) He doesn't really have the budget for an SSD. It is, again, an unbalance between parts.
3) The PSU's not good. EVGA 2nd Generation GPUs (G2, P2, and B2) are good, but you have the G1, NEX.

your insight is well appreciated. just trying to narrow down to specific wants
