Opinions on CX850M PSU

I am looking at running an ASUS GeForce GTX 970 STRIX graphics card, i7-4790K cpu, ASUS Z97-A/USB 3.1 MB motherboard, Corsair H100i cooling system and Corsair Vengeance 16GB DDR3 1600. Will the Corsair CX850M psu work with this build? My friend said it would, but he also said I could experience some problems with the psu since its an 801 Plus Bronze Level, is this true?

An 850 is overkill for your system. You would be better off with a better quality 750 or even 650 PSU. If you are not running SLI in the future, a 650 will be plenty. You can get a 750 if you plan on getting SLI down the road (I have SLI 970s and a powerful rig with big air cooler, multiple case fans, etc.). Stick with the CS or RM line from Corsair, or go with Seasonic X-series or EVGA's G2/GS line which are actually made by Seasonic.

FYI I have a Corsair CX750M PSU and it has been fine for 6 months and is stable...it was given to me, so I'm using it. Otherwise I would not have bought it. No complaints so far though...it's provided rock solid +12v and 3.3v power with no ripples. Regarding Bronze, all that means is the efficiency...
Ooookay so basically your asking kind off what I did a bit ago as I have an CX 500W PSU powering an i5 4460 coupled with a MSI GTX 970 4GB but I'm switching the CPU for an i7 4790K and then putting an SSD in but I don't feel the pc is safe with that very low tier PSU in there with such expensive parts so I asked the community what PSU I should get to replace it.

The CX PSU's are as budget as you can get and I was very lucky to still have one working for 2 years but many peoples blow in a week, month or a year.

Regarding Bronze, all that means is the efficiency rating...it has nothing to do with power delivery itself. The higher up you go in the 80+ efficiency rating (80+, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum) the more efficient the PSU is at power load (less waste of power, hence less power draw from the wall in given load ranges).
