Opinions on HTPC setup

Jul 14, 2009
Hi there,

Its been a while since I build a computer so I thought it would be a good idea to ask for opinions for an HTPC i would like to build. I own a full hd tv (1080p).

My needs :
- play full HD movies (blu rays)
- play games (dawn of war 2, upcoming starcraft 2, diablo 3, and more) and play them using my tv's native resolution
- must be able to use hdmi output for video

My budget
- something between 600$ and 1000$ (taxes included)

This is what my build looks like for the moment

thanks alot.

Pretty good list, but that's a lot of heat to stuff in that case and the PSU won't do.

Antec Fusion cases are great and better cooled. Also considered very quiet.

CPU and RAM combo

This would be enough for just Blu-ray BTW. A bit light for gaming though so you'll still need the 4850.
