Hello

Im not new to computers but I am at building my own. I am thinking about building my own PC and i'm wondering if the parts I have selected are good and that they will work together. I intend to do video editing and gaming. I will probably upgrade it next year by buying maybe a better graphics card but for now is this a good build? Have I missed anything out? Do I need more cooling?

Thanks

That is a properly terrible PSU and Maplin is way too expensive. I recommend Scan.co.uk, as they do great prices on components and offer a much, much wider choice of components. They also do a service called Scansure, which if you were to damage your components during installation, you can call them up and get them replaced free of charge.

Secondly, a GTX 650 is fairly weak for gaming. I would use a GTX 670 for that.

You'll need a case as well and a better PSU. I recommend brands like Corsair, Antec, XFX, Seasonic, EVGA and BeQuiet, as they are of far better quality than that junk supply. Here is the same system using PcPartPicker, a site we normally use for system builds and you will see a serious price difference with different components, finding the lowest price at different E-tailers across the globe -

This build will suit you fine. It's silent, it's powerful, it has reliable storage and power and easily overclockable.

Does he really need 16GB RAM? 8GB should suffice.
