What gaming would you be doing? Do you want to overclock? How long do you want your computer to be new and what settings on games would you play. I am assuming you will game at 1080p and not 4k. As the specs for a gaming PC it will be fine. What budget range?

The games I want to play are things like; metal gear solid 5, Battlefield 1, battlefront,Call of duty and other FPS games.
I meant this for 1440p gaming
Because I'm new to computers and don't know much about the hardware and it's limits I do feel comfortable overclocking.
My budget is upto 650 pounds.

Here is your build on PCPartPicker, it's 750 Pounds but this is basically what parts you had listed (equal prices) so not sure how you got under 650 on those parts above. Here is the list:

- Better Power Supply (Same price)
- Faster RAM (Cheaper)
- Same Graphics Card + Case as they were good choices
- CPU with comparable performance (Cheaper)
- Motherboard with more slots and features and can OC (Slightly more)
- Better Monitor, 1ms FreeSync with is perfect for a RX 580.

Some things could change to bring it down to 650 but this would be perhaps an RX 570 or something along those lines. Hope this helps :)

*Edit* This is what you had listed, but it's the same price:

Sorry my mistake madmatt30 I forgot to mention that I already had a 1tb SSD for storage.
CRO5513Y the 650 price range was for the build without the monitor the budget for the monitor is 200 pounds

This allowed me to up CPU to a 1500X which is an excellent performer, ideally faster RAM could be added but depends how strict the 650 budget is. I'm sure Madmatt or someone else will find some good changes for this. 😉

What would the jump from 8g of ram to 16g do to the performance and is it really worth it.
CRO5513Y thank you for the change to the parts it was very helpful and I have changed most of the part

Some games do benefit from 16GB of RAM yes, if it fits in the budget i don't see why not add it. Will also be good to get slightly faster RAM too as Ryzen really benefits from it. However with 16GB it goes over budget and with a slower speed (2400 MHz) all the good speed kits like 2800-3000 MHz which are good for Ryzen, are going to take the budget up to 950 Euro. Imo this is a great combination here, you can always buy another of the same RAM kit in this to run 4x4GB for 16GB total later on when you feel like it, 8GB will be fine for almost every game now. The budget allowed me to squeeze in a fast 3000 MHz RAM kit and Full-sized Motherboard in with a little room to spare. Monitor and Windows 10 included.

Here is a Ryzen RAM Speed performance guide if you want to take a look > https://www.eteknix.com/memory-speed-large-impact-ryzen-performance/

I'd say bits just about doable with 16gb ram IF you neither just run windows free OR drop to a 1080p monitor mate

In all honesty you really really should get a ryzen 1600 into that build IMO.
For £25 more than the 1500x its just a much better CPU than anything else on the market now.I'll have a proper looksie tonight for you (uk partpicker misses a lot of bargains & special offers)

2 years back I would have said 8gb ram is plenty.
It still is for 90% of users in all fairness .
BUT on a personal level I always build with 16gb ram (2x8gb) from the off now.

You are covered for the future then , a 16gb kit is generally 10% less than the price of buying 2 x8gb kits separately , it removes the issue of mixing /matching unpaired sticks in the future.

For me now the sweet spot for gaming price performance wise is 100% a ryzen 1600, a decent budget b350 board , 16gb ram & a RX 580.

Budget around those components with everything else.

A mixing a few views together here's what I came up with

1.Corsair CC-9011075-WW Carbide Series 100R Windowed Mid-Tower ATX Computer Case

2.ASUS PRIME B350M-A AMD B350 DDR4 S-ATA 600 Micro ATX Motherboard

3.EVGA 600 W 80+ PC Power Supply Unit

4.Ram- Corsair CMK8GX4M1A2666C16 Vengeance LPX 8GB (1x8GB) DDR4 2666Mhz CL16 XMP 2.0

5.AMD Ryzen 5 1600 Desktop CPU - AM4/Hex Core/GHz/16MB/65W

6.SAPPHIRE NITRO+ Radeon RX 580 8G GDDR5 Dual HDMI/DVI-D/Dual DP Graphics Card -

7. Monitor AOC G2460VQ6 61 cm (24") Monitor (VGA, HDMI, DisplayPort, 1920 x 1080, 75 Hz, 1ms response time)
