Hey everybody just wanted to ask for some quick opinions from some knowledgeable people. I will be finally doing a new build after a few years now upgrading from my Phenom ll x4 965 and hd 6850 to a Ryzen system with probably an RX 580 8gb when I can get one at a reasonable price.
My main question is do you all think it will be fine just running my old HD 6850 in my new Ryzen build temporarily to get everything tested, set up and do some minor gaming till I can get a new card? Also if you have any other suggestions with it or steps after I get a new card don't be afraid to share I'd be happy to have them.
I'll list my new parts below as well as my old HD 6850. Thanks in advance for any advice and have a good holiday season.
-AMD Ryzen 7 1700 with stock spire cooler. http://
-ASRock X370 Taichi AM4 Mobo. http://
-G.SKill RipJaws V series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200. http://
-Samsung 850 EVO 250gb SSD. http://
-Corsair CX750M V2 PSU. http://
-Old Gigabyte HD 6850 card I believe its this one might be the OC'd edition. http://

This will all be going into a Corsair C70 case and running WIndows 10 64 bit a 1tb Hdd will be added later as well when its not being used anymore. When this is done I'll mainly be gaming at 1080p 144hz (or higher hz if I can) for some older fps games, and higher settings for some newer games. I'll also be doing some recording using reaper and a few other plugins with it as well as some heavy data spreadsheet work for my job. Thanks again all.

The GPU will work fine for now, it will struggle a bit with the newer AAA games as it's an old card, but that's to be expected.

I think you would be better off with a GTX 1060 6GB card instead of the RX 580.

Thanks for the info. You really think the 1060 even with upcoming dx12 titles? It is nice in terms of power consumption compared to the 580 though. Also is EVGA still pretty much the favorite for Nvidia cards?
It's been a while for me since I could look around at parts seems like XFX and Sapphire are still well liked in AMD cards.

Should be fine, it's a solid mid range card, and is a DX12 card as well.

I like EVGA cards personally, but you can look at the features on some of the others and choose.
