Opinions on refurbished CDRW drives?

I noticed that TDK sells their VeloCD drives, refurbished, at some very attractive prices. What are your opinions on refurbed CDRW drives, or refurbed hardware in general? I've heard some people say that it's all bad, since refurbished hardware is hardware that has failed at some point. On the other hand, some have said that refurbished hardware is tested more thoroughly than hardware that's initially released to retail.

So what do you all think?

I have no problem with buying refurbed products.

Usually, buying a refurbished product shouldn't be a problem. However, I, as I think many would, prefer new.
