Opinions on these budget HDD's

Hello, I am currently building my first desktop in nearly 10 years and I am currently looking for a new internal hdd. They are much more expensive than I thought 🙁. The only two I can find for under $100 are these two WD ones :

Do either of them look good to you? If so which is the best? I was hoping to get at least 320gb of space, but I was really hoping to get a cheaper price since I'm on a fairly tight budget, while retaining a good brand and a quality hdd. Also was hoping to stay at 7200 rpm, everyone has pointed me to that speed. Do you guys think those are my only two options?

hedshotx of all times you had to choose now to build. The high prices you see are the result of the floods in Thailand, which happens (correct me if i'm wrong) to be the largest manufacturer of HDDs in the world. so less HDDs = higher price.

i know man 🙁. I wish I had bought parts around black friday, but I didn't realize I needed a desktop for school, and I might as well be making it a gaming rig as well :/. So you guys think the second HDD is the best I can do? I'm okay with taking a less popular brand if the size is okay and the quality is still good.

By the way, whats wrong with IDE?

Nothing wrong with a drive with an IDE connector, it's just that it's old tech.
Newer HDDs and optical drives (CD/DVD) come with SATA connectors.

You said you're building a new desktop so the motherboard you buy might not even have IDE connectors on it.
In that case you would have to buy a "IDE to SATA" adaptor to connect the IDE drive to your motherboard.

Oh I gotcha, I assume SATA is faster data transfer? Do you or anyone else have any cheaper HDD suggestions than the ones I posted? I know like you guys said, now is not the best time, but I don't wanna pay anymore than I have to.

Buy the second one because, it's SATA, IDE is an old technology.

Guess those two are my only options then :/. Any thoughts regarding which is better? I've heard from a lot of forums that most people favour WD, though that could just be brand loyalty haha. What do you guys think? $5 won't break my budget, I'd rather just get the better HDD. If there is a reasonable difference/lifespan/quality between the two. Or warranty 😛
