Hey there, i've assembled this setup for primaraly high end gaming. Are there any compatible issues and do you think i'll be able to run games at 1680x1050 without problems. Is it future proof?

PSU Corsair 750W (Not quite sure if it's too much
Processor AMD Phenom™ II X3 720 Black Edition (This or the 955)
Motherboard Asus M4A78-E, Socket-AM2+/AM3 (Not quite sure here either)
Graphics Card Sapphire Radeon HD 4890 1GB GDDR5 Toxic Edition
CPU Cooler Zalman VF2000 LED Cooler Hybrid (Will it fit?)
Case Thermaltake M9 VI1000BNS (Too small?)
Memory Kingston (2x2) 4gb 800Mhz
Harddisk Western Digital 640GB 7200

You are going to have to be more specific about the ram, link to it please. Also what budget are you working with and where are you buying your parts from. Actually link to all of your parts because idk if thats the WD Caviar Black, Blue or SE, and that also allows us to help you find better deals. The 4890 is also overkill for 1680x1050 and future proof is a meaningless phrase.

get a quad core, it will last longer, and Q9550's are dirt cheap at the moment anyway.

There's no such thing as future proof, Sony said the PS3 will last 10 years but ill put money on the PS4 is in development right now...

Anyway, the 520W may be a bit low for your set up, maybe up it to a 650 if you have the cash, the DDR2 triple core phenom II's arent the best for gaming (this is coming from an AMD enthusiast), you may be better off with a quad core, maybe even go for the AM3 chips so you're fairly future proofed for the impending DDR3 mainstreamalisation (not even a word).

I have a thermaltake case, theyre good but the M9 isnt one of their better ones, go for an Antec 900 or the 902; a good solid gamer case.

Im not too fond of Zalmans but everyone to their own.. the best AM2+ cooler is the Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro V2, about $25 i would say.

Also invest $5 in Arctic Silver 5 thermal paste for the HSF, that will serve you well.

Your board is ok, but to be honest, the best 'future proof' move to make right now is to wait until some better DDR3 equipment is made for AMD CPUs, especially wait the mobos that support Nvidia graphics cards, its quite bad how they exhibited a bit of favouritism to their daughter company ATI by making the crossfire chipsets first.

Sack Kingston, go Corsair (shameless whoring of Corsair but whatever).

Samsung Spinpoint F1 is a better HD than the WD's too if you're after bang for buck. I have a 1TB in my machine and it reads at very good speeds for a sub £100 1TB disk.

Do whatever you like with the ATI card, i couldnt care less about them.

The basic premise of my advice is, wait until better stuff has come out. If you dont want to wait, concentrate on a really good DDR2 machine as DDR2 (off paper) is actually still faster then DDR3 off tighter timings alone.
