should i go for a p35 motherboard, or use this one to be a little more futureproof?

You want future proof, then get 2 identical boards. Cpus rarely fail; it's usually the board that goes first. As far as I know, penryn cpus are the end of the line for socket 775, so the p35 is a good choice if you don't need sli or crossfire. Both my 939 boards are newegg open box; about $30 each shipped. I highly recommend it if you want to keep your system more than 3 years.

From the reviews I've read, the P35 sounds like it makes more sense. Check out reviews of the X38 mobo on this site, estremetech.con, and anandtech.com, best way to see if it's worth it to you
