Opinions on Upgrade?

I am looking to upgrade my rig;

CPU - Intel i7-4790K 4.0 GHZ
Mother board - ASUS Maximus VII Hero Intel Z97
Cooler - Raystorm 750 Water Cooling
Storage - Samsung 1TB SSD
Storage - 2TB HDD
GPU - ASUS GeForceGTX 980 ti
RAM - Kingston HyperX 16GB
Monitors - x1 ASUS 24" VG248QE 144hz & iiyama PROLITE E2273HDS-B1 22" Monitor

So I want to play Star Citizen and be stable. Annnnd although this Rig is decent it wont be consistent I believe.

What do I upgrade? I'm not gonna get a 4k monitor YET. So is 1080ti worth just now? I have a bad feeling that my i7-4790k might cause bottleneck. And even if I did jump to the 1080 I would then have to upgrade in domino effect. Motherboard, Processor, RAM etc etc.

What y'all think?

Are you going to game under 2k or 1080p?

Right now im running on 1080p. The main monitor is the ASUS VG248QE and I believe that it highest res will be only 1080.

Though with upgrades that could handle higher res whether 2k/4k I would eventually dive into upgrading my monitors. But not main concern at the moment.

Your pc is very close to top tier.
There are very few significant upgrades available to you.

I suggest you try the game and see how you do.
You will then be in a position to determine your most effective upgrade.

I'd say your cpu is fine especially if you overclock it. Get the new GPU and you'll be good for quite a while

coffee lake i5-8400 is the new game king, but OCed Intel i7-4790K is close. I suggest OCing your CPU and try the game first, I believe you will have good performance
