Opinions on Upgrading Current System

I am thinking of upgrading my current system. Primary use is gaming, followed by typical basic photo editing, web browsing, etc.

Currently have the following components:
CPU: Core i5-2500K
Motherboard: Asus P8P67 Pro
Graphic: EVGA GTX 570
RAM: G Skill 2x4GB DDR3 1600
Case: Cooler Master HAF 932
Power: SeaSonic 750W

I have had trouble with the Motherboard from almost day 1. Should have returned it, but I didn't. The USB keyboard and mouse freeze up and requires a reboot. So I have been using a PS2 keyboard and mouse with no problems.

I would like to re-use the case, power supply, and RAM. Would like to get comments and opinions for the following items?

Get a 4690k and Gtx 970.

4690k - Newer and is cooler

970 - Better performance for 20 dollars more, and uses less power. (Slightly better than 780 at stock speeds.)

Thanks for the feedback. I changed the CPU and graphic card. Kind of leery on the motherboard though. Newegg has some negative reviews on this item. I have been fighting a motherboard problem with my existing build, so I would hate to jump into a similar problem again.

I tend to ignore many newegg reviews lately, as many of those with issues are due to ignorance or mistake of the reviewer.

Newegg has a good combo deal going for a 4690k and Z97x killer, though.

What is your budget for mobo? Please make it clear one person's feedback can't be generalized for the product. When I was buying mobo, my under consideration Asus model was reported as being DOA mostly at NewEgg but I purchased it and it is still working wonders for me.

Anyhow, you may consider Asus Z97-A/C/K as well.
