Question Opinions or advice on (OBS) 1600x900 Screen Recording for 1920x1080p HDTV play back?

I use a laptop for capture of video streams and record at 1600x900 with OBS, then store on a hard drive for later viewing on a 1920x1080p TV.
The TV upscales the 1600x900, but is this the best way?

Is 1600x900 the resolution native to your laptop's screen or was that set arbitrarily? Make and model of your laptop and it's SKU?
