Opinions please saphire 6870

My friend wants to sell me a sapphire 6870 for $40. I currently have a gigabyte 6670 which is garbage. I plan on buying a r9 290x in 2 months. In your opinion do you think that I should wait or buy his graphics card.

yeah go for it the card online is around 80-100$ new and used and plus the card isnt that bad for gaming but not the best either
