OPS black screen when trying to record?

When I hit preview stream (I have the program I want to record open), It stays black! I dont have stream selected I have the screen recorder on. For my scene I hit Game Capture and still a black screen! Thanks for your help!

Did you tell game capture to capture the right process?
Some games don't like game capture, and you'll have to use window/monitor capture.

window capture dosent work but when I use monitor capture it captures a ton of windows! Any way to fix this?

Well, what game are you trying to capture?
You can try running it in max resolution borderless windowed mode and then use monitor capture.

Have you tried examing the capture settings at all to make sure you're doing it right? Is it only the preview that doesn't work, or does it not actually record anything?
Are you sure your computer is powerful enough to record gameplay?

Run the game in borderless window mode, use window capture, and select the correct game window. This is how I stream with OBS.. game capture is goofy & doesn't work half of the time.
