Well, like I said, I've never had problems with DFI at all. I've had problems with ASUS, Abit and Intel boards though. From bad EEProm chips and bad IDE controllers to faults in the board themselves.

Lifes a gamble when it comes to motherboards. Most people have good luck with any particular brand. I've just had awesome luck with DFI

Speaking of which, my friend's brand new SLI-DR just failed to post.

Nope, no SLi. It was posting a minute beforehand and we were playing fear, then we decided to start overclocking.
We turned it off and took out the video card to put in a VF-700CU. Put it back, and no post. Gave the BIOS 8 hours to clear...still just annoying ass beeps.

Yeah well, I had mine up to 2.7 and it seemed stable but, it failed prime and superpi tests so I cranked it back to 2.5 for uber stableness.

Nah, i'm at 2.5 now with stock voltage and it's so freakin fast now, it's nuts. It laughs at everything I pretty much throw at it so, i'm happy with it.

been following this thread and am fixing to order my 165.

I was wondering if anyone can tell me, hands down, which air cooled HSF is the best...period for cooling this proc?

Supposedly the ASUS Ice Star is the best, but an XP90C+Vantec Tornado will be about the most powerful thing you can get.

I would agree on Zalman, even though I don't have one on my CPU.

However, on my GPU, the Zalman works great over the stock. (AGP 6800GS)

I do look forward in getting one in the future for an upgrade.

I'm very happy with the zalman cooler. My opty runs right around 28C idle and 38C pretty much max load. Nice and cool if you ask me.
Zalman is good, but really made for quiet use, not overclocking. Even Zalman has stated they don't recommend overclocking.
Again, if noise is no problem, XP90C+Vantec Tornado is basically the best around.
I use an XP90 w/ Vantec Tornado and it's next to impossible to hit 40c on my Venice or my friend's 165.
