Hey,

I have an issue with my new pc I just built and am wondering if you guys have any idea what I can do to fix it.

I have an ASRock 970 Extreme3 R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard and an Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer.

The problem is that the optical drive opens and then instantly closes. Everything else works fine. I unplugged the Sata cable to see if it was a hardware issue and the drive worked fine with the cable unplugged.

Does anyone know what I can try to get this to work properly?

Test the drive, go to your BIOS screen ( DEL key on boot) - don't change any settings here - then try to open the drive. If it ejects cleanly, I will suspect software because I read from other forum the OS even spyware/viruses casue that problem. If not, it maybe the hardware issue, because the OS does not load yet, this will rule out spyware/viruses etc.
