Hi !
I am facing very weird problem, initially i had dvd writer (LG) it started making loud noise during boot (but not on restart) and i tried the drive on other PC and found it fine there.

There is no operational problem with the device it burns DVD properly.

I changed my cabinet, power supply and UPS (cool master, corsair and APC) and bought Blu RAY writer, after some days the blu RAY drive is now making some noise but not as audible as the previous drive(during boot only).

and i feel it will be as loud as the DVD drive after some days. I am not able to find any reasons for this head spinning problem??

Can anyone help me on this?

Thanks.

don't know ? I would try with out the sata data cable and see . if still there hook it back up and try with the sata power cable removed ?

if no noise with the data cable removed maybe the bios is having issue with that device activating it or what ever ? but then you said you changed out the psu so step2 may not apply anymore ? with that all that's left is it hooked to the motherboard through the sata cable ??

may try another sata data cable on another port .

2 drives same issue changed out psu and case all that's left is the data cable or the motherboard ?? [best I could guess ]

Nope, not listed as first boot device but BIOS certainly performs POST and this may be a motherboard issue as noise was pretty LOUD (on previous device i.e. dvd writer) and day by day it is increasing with new blu ray writer:??:?

Yep, good thought i will try these steps. New SATA cable installed with BLU ray writer. I am thinking on 2 possibilities:

1) Motherboard (BIOS) messing up with POWER MANAGEMENT (during POST).

2) Earthing problem in our apartment and there may be leakage and this may be messing up the power supply and motherboard. I am not sure about this (I mean this issue can be rectified by APC UPS or not)?
