Recently I've bought an optical mouse for my laptop that comes with a USB to PS/2 convertor. SInce my laptop only have 1 USB, I try to utilize the PS/2 port and left the USB for other things. The problem is....sometimes my mouse wheel couldn't work but sometimes its normal. It occurs everytime I re start. I have all the appropriate software installed.

Thanks

The mouse wheel doesn't have the function of switching it off. I tried another mouse(optical) today from USB to PS/2 connector and worst still it wouldn't work at all....and the optical light from below just blink non-stop..

Well, that would seem to suggest the problem is your PS/2 port? Could be hardware (the port itself) or software...

If you have space on your HDD, maybe it worth creating a new, small partition and install a nice fresh Windows installation on it? If the mouse then works fine under the new OS you'll know that it's your Windows install thats messed up.

Strange though - normally mice are pretty non-problematic!
