optical out from mobo

Hi everyone, switching from console to pc got a set of wireless turtle beaches on my xbox they are the elite ones, now i know the mic wont work (i accept that) however im struggling to get sound from the optical out the light is on so i know the source is there, not sure if i need a specific driver or if its a setting, please help, im waiting to play doom at 200fps in the dark with quality headphones for added horror!! thank you in advance

You need to open playback devices & enable the optical audio as default

You should have a little speaker icon in taskbar bottom right of screen.

Right click it & select playback devices.

Should be similar to below

Click the optical , select set as default audio device

Oh and enable winsonic 7.1 from enhancements , it makes a world of difference.
