Optical output motherboard surround sound

Can anyone confirm if the optical output on the Asus rampage iv black edition has 5.1 channel surround sound? For games like watch dogs that support dolby and dts. I currently use my hdmi and it works fine through my surround sound but if i use optical i can change the sync delay on my reciever. I can with the hdmi but not with the PC for some reason

Dont mean to be rude I appreciate you answered. but how do you know? I researchered a bit and people said it only did 2 channels with optical cable.

Because I have ran 5.1 through fiber optic for about the last 10 years.

I know fiber optic is capable of 5.1 dolby and dts i have used that for xbox ps2 ps3 xbox 360 and dvd players. But i heard that this motherboards fiber optic type doesnt send 5.1 channels.. And when i look at the manual of asus rampafe iv black edition the only option for 5.1 they show is those other inputs and optical is for 2 channels. So it says on the manual.
