Hi, I'm looking for a gaming mouse. The DELL mouse I have just doesn't cut it anymore. The biggest dilema I have is the difference between laser and optical. Does it even matter which one I get, will this even be relevant? I am using a 1080p monitor by the way.

I've narrowed it down to a Cooler Master Storm Spawn/Xornet for optical and a Logitech G9x/Corsair M65 for laser.

My budget is the lower the better but less $80 [Canadian dollars] is good.

The difference between a laser and optical mouse is the light used to track movement. Laser sensor allow for higher DPI. In practical terms, you may not notice any difference.

Out of the mice you are looking at, the G9x seems to be uniformly liked.

That is basically what having a higher DPI allows. It is likely true. I don't have both to compare, but I do have a laser mouse, and it works very smooth. It is the G700.
