Hello guys!!!

Long time user of the site but recently registered. So long story short I decided to build my first PC. My initial idea was to pick up a 500gb evo 850 as my only drive for my system (which I did), but due to some great last minutes offers I ended up with 2 additional 120gb Ocz Vector 180 drives.

So what would be the best configuration for these 3 drives. I do allot of productivity and some gaming.

Thanks.

Solution
Not a ton of options here but basically you've got:

Option 1:
- 850 as your OS drive
- Just connect the two OCZ drives as individual drives
- Windows will have 3 drives (a 500GB and 2 x 120GB)

Option 2:
- 850 as your OS drive
- Put the OCZs in a RAID-0 to get yourself a 240GB drive in windows that is twice the speed of one OCZ drive. Note that if you lose 1/2 of those OCZs though, all data that was stored on that 240GB drive in windows will be GONE. Could use this drive to install games or something for the heck of it. The added performance won't be super noticeable though, to be clear.

Option 3:
- 850 as OS drive
- Put the OCZs in a RAID-1, making them redundant. Windows will see a 120GB drive available and if 1/2 of the OCZs...

- Put the OCZs in a RAID-1, making them redundant. Windows will see a 120GB drive available and if 1/2 of the OCZs dies, your data is intact and the 2nd drive will be kicked in to action as it always has a complete copy of what was on the other drive. You can then replace the failed OCZ and you're redundant once again.

Notice I'm keeping the 850 as the OS drive....(1) for simplicity of config and install and (2) for the well known reliability of the samsung drives. OCZ SSDs are not known for their reliability, so whatever goes on those I'd probably keep backed up.

Solution
Great thanks for the detailed answer. Was definitely considering putting the ocz's on raid 0 and back up everything to a nas. Just a note, the ozc are the new versions done under Toshiba. It seems that they are better on the reliability department (I hope).
