Optimizing system performance with 16GB ssd and 1TB HD

So I managed to get my hands on a 16 gb ssd to use along side my 1TB hard drive. After installing a new copy of windows 7 on my ssd, I was only left with 1GB of free space left on the ssd. I've noticed major improvements in performance, but I can not update windows with only 1GB of free space on the SSD. So far I have linked my program files, downloads, and other less important folders onto a partition on my HD. Are there any windows directories that I can link to my HD to free up space without sacrificing performance?

I don't know, at a certain point you may have to move so much stuff off of the SSD that it isn't really worth it.

Does your motherboard support Intel Smart Response Technology? That will allow you to set up the SSD as a caching drive. Here's an older article on it:
