Hey Guys,

As the title says, I just picked up an AE for a very cheap price for the heck of it which was hard to turn down. Now I know all the limitations of a non hyper threaded dual core chip, but what would you say a compatible or like to like GPU combo would be with it?? I don't want to create a situation where the chip is running at 95-100% and the GPU is being held back at 60-75% (you know what I mean - no bottlenecking and no stuttering).

Resolution - 1080p (60 hertz).

Thanks.

Solution
The G3258 won't bottleneck on you in games that don't require more than 2 cores and many games don't actually require more than this so you could get something like an R9 290 or GTX 970 and still be fine in most circumstances.

However, a balanced option in combination with that CPU:

Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 960 2GB Video Card ($180.70 @ Amazon)
Total: $180.70
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

q8200 @ 2.50 GHz QC with a 970, GTAV 20-30 fps, I try not to overuse the word but now that's a bottleneck. The chip is holding back your GPU, probably, the chip is running at a constant 100% and the GPU at 50% during gaming. This is what I am trying to avoid lol, as soon as the game is a little more CPU intensive, the chips just can't keep up with the high end GPUs. Even though the big cards will let us turn every thing to ultra (textures, shaders etc), the game play won't be as smooth.

I know 🙁 I blew my budget on the 970 now i got a piece of poo rig, gonna save for an i5 hopefully get 60 fps
