Optimum Wifi using their smart routers as hotspots

So, I'm trying to understand what kind of impact this has on customers who use the provider's smart routers. How is the wifi hotspot network kept separate and does it have any impact my own private network? Also, does it impact my connection speeds in any way?

It could impact your speed. There are only so many unique channels available for 2.4Ghz WIFI (three). So if 10 people are using their phones as hotspots in the same room they have to be interfering with each other to some extent.
