Wondering what options light be out there. I just ran two more Ethernet lines in my house, but I have a bedroom I can't figure out how to get lines to and it doesn't pick up the wifi from our router or access points.
Can I suggest using powerline ethernet? You hook up your router to a powerline adapter plugged into the wall and the receiver adapter plugged into the wall in another room that can even act as a wifi router or have an ethernet port. It's like turning your power system into an ethernet extension cord.
If you have coax cable moca is going to be you best option. It can get full gigabit speed.
The only moca adapters I ever saw with wifi were made by actiontec. They were expensive and did not support the newer wifi. For whatever reason actiontec does not sell their 2.0 or 2.5 bonded units to the general consumer. Gocoax seem to have solved their supply issues and I hear other similar brands work ok also.
None of these sell them with wifi build in.
You should be able to use pretty much any cheap router as a AP. You can get something with a 1200 or 1750 number on them for about $25-$30. These should be good enough for most portable end devices.
You might be better off separating the two. Use moca to get ethernet into the room, or near it, then a router or wifi extender off the moca to broadcast wifi
Haven't gotten to the install still, but ended up with gocoax moca adapters and a new ubiquiti LR 6 AP. Need to install a floating shelf to place them on. Thanks for the help.
