HI guys so i set the optiplex 390 whit cpu G630 and im trying to run two video card rx 480 on it but i cant make it boot any 1 know what happening or if there is a work around Tx for your time

yes im trying to do cheap mining aready changed the psu into a 850wh gold psu and set the riaser but whit 1 card it work prfectly and my old core 2 duo e8400 can run both card

Was your old core 2 duo a completely different computer with a different motherboard?

Your 480 is an EFI only card and so your Optiplex 390, if even available, will likely require a bios update to support current gen cards.

Good look getting a fraction of your investment back.

tx but aready on roi 2 month ago do you know any cheap mptherboard/cpu i can get to replace thise one

AMD GPUs after R9-285/380, basically R3xx and up won't display the Dell BIOS resolution. No known Cure. 7xxx series cards work, and their R9, and R7 clones. In the E520 in my sig. I have to hit F1 to get past the issue with the R9-285. But I'm still locked out of my Locked BIOS. I don't knmow how much room there is in a Opti390 but I would look for Nvidia and an ITX if space is an issue.

I disagree. A big PSU, aor GPU can be moved to a newer build later.
But dual GPU work stations are cheap and can come with an OS. Dell T3400, T3500. Be sure and get one with a 525W or higher PSU. The 375W supports one 6 pin GPU. for 2x 8pin GPUs an aftermarket PSU will be needed.

hi is me rayksu who open thise so a quick update to get it to work you just need to plug all gpu in pci-e 2,3,4 any order but none in pci-e big slot(main slot) and use as diplay onboard video good luk every one

what optiplex 390 do you have? mini tower or DT?
what BIOS do you use, any special setting? , win 7 or win 10?
with external PSU and win 10 i only can make optiplex 390 recoqnize 1 gtx 1070, if i try to plug 1 more card, ( i tried your suggestion, no card on big pcie) the system won't boot

Dell M5DCD OptiPlex 390 LGA 1155/Socket H2 DDR3 SDRAM Motherboard make sure you run display from main port of board and click f1 even if screen is black thean after cuple minutes try change port display to gpu ones if no signal im using last bios for it no special setting

Hello,

I have dell optiplex 390 miniDT, running bios A11 (last on DELL page) and I'm unable to make more than one GPU working... I have option multiple GPUs checked in BIOS, I tried all possible combinations even one described here (to use port 2,3,4). Non is working. I'm using W10pro.
When I put all 3 cards in those slots and use onboard card for monitor (HDMI) nothing works, even I try to press F1, PC wont start / it just runs with black screen and never reaches windows (I have teamviewer on it, but it never gets online)

Could you share what special settings are you using?

Same problem. Have you found a solution yet ?

by ' main port of board' did you mean the VGA port ?

The older Dell BIOS is incompatible with AMD GCN3 and up GPUs. They can't display the Dell VESA mode 103 BIOS screen. Sometimes you get error 43, sometimes they just won't boot. This applies to R9-3xx (+285) cards and newer. R9-2xx, R7, and HD series should work. I know this is an old thread, but it's unsolved, and is a common issue.
