Hey I have a Optiplex 780 sff and I’m currently looking for a new cpu, which would be the best fitting one?

Specs:
CPU: Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16Ghz
GPU: 1050Ti Low profile Ik it’s bottle necking the cpu
Ram: 8Gbs of ddr3
PSU: optiplex sff factory power supply

And I’m also wondering would I need to change out the cooler for the cpu if I went for a Quad Core? If you have any ideas let me know!

The Q9650 was the highest CPU you could get for that motherboard.

This is the Technical Guide Book for the Optiplex 780 MT, DT, SFF, and USFF PCs. Scroll down to the CPU section to find out what CPUs are supported for your machine. Keep in mind that your small 235W PSU is already overloaded with the GTX 1050 Ti. With the higher wattage Quad Core, it and the GTX 1050 Ti will use more watts. Run at your own risk.

Do you think i should invest into a more powerful psu? and would i have any problems with bios? And one more thing, would i be able to pull off the stock cpu cooler for the quad core?

Yes, but you won't find one. I had the same trouble with my first Optiplex SFF years ago. It had the slightly larger 240W PSU, but had the same 17A +12v rail as yours. It handled my GTX 1050 Ti and 95W i5-2400 fine, so I left it like that. Dell's PSUs are pretty good, and I suspect under-rated.

Hey, i was wondering what i need to download for the bios to be updated. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/33924/Intel-Core-2-Quad-Processor-Q9550-12M-Cache-2-83-GHz-1333-MHz-FSB- i found this site, but not sure what to download

You need to go to go here

https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04?c=us&l=en&~ck=mn

then type in the service tag on the PC (Should be on the top or back) and then click on Downloads and Drivers on the left. In there you will find the bios (There are 4 drop down boxes at top. I think the left bottom you can select BIOS and then it will list the BIOS for that PC) then just run the installer as administrator and it will update.
