[SOLVED] Optiplex 9020: did I over tighten the CPU heatsink/fan?

I'm having to replace the motherboard in my Optiplex 9020 minitower. I was upgrading from the i3 dual core to an I5-4590 quad core processor. Apparently the socket for this processor (the LGA 1150) has connectors that will bend in a gentle breeze. I've changed CPU's in earlier systems, and I know how to be gentle with handling and insertion. But the Optiplex wouldn't boot, and I discovered a few of the pins on the socket (towards the bottom side of the case) were bent. I recall the screws were tightened all the way when I removed it, and I tightened it down the same way.

Question is, do I need to tighten the screws tight? Or just until the heatsink/fan is snug? I don't want to wreck another motherboard. As it is, I found information that I need to use a larger heatsink for the i5 CPU. In a sense, it's fortunate AND unfortunate. But...tighten it just until it's snug? Thanks for your help.

Tighten the screws until you get resistance and then stop. Same applies to screwing in a motherboard to the standoffs. Too much pressure could wreck things.
