Hello,

I have a dell optiplex gx270 tower(large version) and was wondering what gpu upgrade i could use to make it have windows aero.

i know it is possible on the SFF so how can i do it on my large tower?

Thanks and I don't really need a new computer considering it runs fine and how i have a gaming laptop. i just want to enhance my experience. thanks!

Is this your PC? http://kkcdn-static.kaskus.co.id/images/2012/12/15/3007369_20121215104638.jpg
If so, you can use any card that fits a PCIe x16 slot and fits the length available in your case. You don't need to use a SFF (low profile) card unless you just want to. Most SFF cards come with both std. and L-P brackets that can be swapped out. Almost any gfx card sold today will allow Aero to be enabled. Even the integrated should be able to do that once the correct gfx driver is installed. What are the specs of your specific PC? Can you link me to the Dell web page for it? There are several versions of the GTX270.

The picture link is blocked with an error. All of the pics I find on the dell website show me the SFF and not the tower. Here is a link witn the pic of the tower http://www.dell.com/downloads/us/products/optix/gx270_spec.pdf

it's the biggest PC out of the three shown. The specs are:

CPU: Pentium 4
RAM: 4GB (Upgraded it)
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
GPU: Intel Extreme Graphics 2 (integrated intel graphics, i know for a fact it won't allow aero)
HDD: 40GB

Thanks.

Ah thank you so much!

I'm clueless on how this works so how can I mark your answer as the best or solved? Thanks :)
