So, I have this mechanical keyboard with grey optical switches, which I got used for 10$ a few months ago.
At first, it worked flawlessly, untill I lubed the stabilizers with ... wheel bearing grease (The friction was annoying, and thats all I had lying around). The keyboard worked for a month or two without issue even after that experiment.
Then slowly it started registering random keys, it started with F11, and over the course of a month it spread to several keys.
I tried opening it and cleaning the pcb with isopropyl alcohol, wiping off all the grease. Then I tried checking if dust could be the culprit, but as it turns out, several layers of tissue paper couldn't block the light, only something like a plastic shaft or a metal screw can!
I tried reinstalling windows, same problem... Using a different device, same problem... Trying a different keyboard, works without any issue.
Any tips? I really don't wanna go out and buy a new one since all other full-sized keebs are over 100$, so even if I need to do some soldering, I'll do it.
