Opty 148 comparible to what?

I just ordered a Opty 148 from PC Connection for $35! They had the price messed up, but have since fixed it. Anyway, I have never had an AMD processor and was wondering what this processor's performance is comparible to in the Intel world (both at stock and overclocked on air).

Well I saw that deal too, and ordered one. But if you check the status on your order... you'll find it's been cancelled. It seems that things that seem too good to be true often are !!! Shame on you PCConnection.

Yeah, mine's cancelled too. I figured that might happen. It would have been nice of them to at least send an email to notifiy me that my order was cancelled :x

quite interested in how it compares to a 939 or an AM2. from what i know that perticular opteron is single core, but beyond that i have no idea

opteron 148 is a 2.2ghz cpu with 1mb L2 cache so it compares to a athlon64 3200+ which is roughly a P4 3.2ghz.

Opteron 148 comes in either s939 or s940(server) pin config.

If i ever need to know about a CPU i just check Wikipedia as they usually have a complete list of each generation.

Actually it compares to the 3700+ (2.2ghz), because it has the full 1024KB L2, the 3200 in 939 is a 2.0ghz with 512KB L2

I agree about the cancellation email. I really think they could take the time to send one of those out.

I wonder if anyone got their order fulfilled before the error was corrected ?

yeah you are right, got confused as i am currently running a 3200+ o'ced to 2.2ghz with 1mb L2 cache.
