I have just bought an Oral B iO 10 toothbrush. I ran into problems straight away because it would not connect to the Oral B app. I even got an error message that the app has a bug, then it closed.
I am going to send it back for a refund. I have looked online but couldn't find a way of resetting the iOsense smart charger that comes with it back to factory settings. I have had to resort at present to blocking the device in my router settings (because I couldn't find a way of deleting it from the device list entirely).
Major headache with this, spent hours trying to get this toothbrush and app working when it's basically never going to. Spent a fortune on it too - joke!
Does anyone know how to reset this iO sense smart charger by any chance? Or get it permanently deleted from my router device list? ( I use Netgear). Strangely when it's unplugged the charger still displays as online and connected in the router's device list settings, and after a refresh??
Thanks.

What device is hosting the Oral B app?

Did you try manually deleting the Oral B app from that device and then manually downloading the app, reinstalling, and reconfiguring?

No third party tools or installers.

You mentioned a router so that suggests to me that the toothbrush and/or smart charger is using network wireless.

Is that correct?

Make (Netgear noted) and model router?

What action(s) did you take to block the device on the router?

Also regarding "device": is that device the iOsense charger or the toothbrush?

I believe that you mean the charger but just want to be clear about which device.

Hi @Ralston18. Yes the 'device' is the charger. It was listed as 'IoT device' in my router's attached devices.

First of all, it went back already this morning which was quick (Amazon), seeing as I phoned for pickup last night, so not had time to see if I could reset the charger., and at least clear my WiFi data from the charger. I'm not keen on having rouge devices holding my WiFi information that I can't reset, so might have to think about changing my WiFi password at some point.

There was no pinhole or any button on the charger to reset it. The app was malfunctioning and in any case, did not appear to have any option to reset the charger. I did delete my Oral B user account though via the Oral B app, and as stated - managed to block the charger via the router's app (couldn't find that option on the router's web based interface tho). The blocking via the app was just a case of activating a switch. having checked my router's attached devices today on the web interface - I can see that the smart charger has gone (which I would have expected, but not sure why it took so long to go last night when it was even unplugged).

Yes, the IoT smart charger was using network wireless and kept WiFi time, and would have connected to what would have been the server stored brushing history at Oral B. (It connected to the actual toothbrush via Bluetooth, or should have done, but due to the malfunctioning app I couldn't even get that to work!)

I use an RAX120 (AX12) Netgear router. The Oral B app was hosted on a Samsung S21 Ultra android.

Deleting the Oral B app/clearing cache/deleting data/deleting my Oral B account, seemed to make no difference to the charger. Every time I plugged it in it would use the previously saved configuration. The app as stated wasn't functioning properly anyway, and would crash every so often and came up with a message once that it had a bug, which made me give up on the whole system.

Online searches suggest that the Oral b app has previous history of having problems, which they claimed should have been fixed in the updated version I downloaded.

I wasn't keen on the whole system anyway, as it required the charger to not only store WiFi password in the charger, and have Bluetooth turned on on the phone, but also to have all manner of Location and Proximity data permanently activated on the phone in order for it all to work. Bit too much for me personally.

The toothbrush and charger are not designed to connect normally to Bluetooth via phone's settings like anything else Bluetooth enabled, - they required the app to connect them. This 'appeared' to work the first time, then after that it wouldn't connect the devices, and they were permanently disconnected. This is why I wanted to reset the IoT smart charger to start all over again, but no..and couldn't find anything on the web regarding this.

Not (full disclosure) an IoT fan of any sort but there can be purposes and uses for IoT.

Would not be surprised if the next toothbrush iteration touts AI in some manner.....:) 🦷
Yes AI lol that would be right, and makes for more technical problems.

Factory reset: Touch and hold the button (d) until orange light appears on the top of your iOsense™ charger, then release the button. Tap the button once again while orange light is on, to trigger the factory reset. LEDs spin orange clockwise to confirm the factory reset. All credentials and settings are deleted from the iOsense™ charger.

I did actually start playing around with the d button - held it down long enough to get to the orange light, but had no way of knowing that I should have then released and tapped the d button again once afterwards in order to factory reset.
There was nothing in the literature to tell me of this procedure.
Thanks for sharing anyway, I'm sure that will help someone.
