I have waited long enough! It's New Year's Eve... time to order the parts and build this thing already! :)

I want to build a very solid system (something that will last 3 - 4 years) for general use plus photo and video editing.

Please review my parts list and make suggestions!

well you could take a look at the new 5xx series from ATI when the price drops , but i saw that it wasen't a crossfire mobo then you could have added a 4890 later , but the ncie thing is that the 5xxx series have dx 11 and has tesselation as a nice bonus, also you oftly get Diert 2 dx 11 game in the package the 48xx series tends to get warm and noisy but the choice is yours! When a few years you could OC your CPU so no wrries.
But your syystem will make it until the end but dont wait for your card to max out all the games in 4 years xD

That is a very nice build.

One suggestion would be for you to consider a 5770 instead of a 4890. The 4890 is a very fine graphics card, but it is an older generation card that produces much more heat than a 5770 card. In additon, the 5770 card supports up to three monitors, typically comes with a HDMI output for hook-up into a TV for easy playback of DVDs, and will be well-supported by hardware and software manufacturers over the life of your computer. You could also get by with a 5750 graphics card, and save $40.

In addition, you should consider replacing your micro-ATX motherboard with a full size unit since you have plenty of room in your P183 case. A comparable ATX motherboard is the Gigabyte P55A-UD3:

This board also has USB 3.0 and SATA 3.0 capabilities, which will become useful in the next few years as devices become available that utilize these high speed interfaces.

You could also get by with a Antec EA550 power supply without limiting your ability to add many more components in the future, such as additional hard drives, etc. The EA650 is also a very good unit. Just get whichever one has the best deal at the time of your purchase.

HAF 922 ($100) has better airflow and more space, so you may want to consider that.

Also, drop the IDE DVD burner. IDE cables really get in the way and are a royal PITA to do cable management with.

If I want to setup the two hard drives in a Raid 1 configuration, will I also need a Raid Controller?

If so --

1.) Will the hardware that I've selected so far work?

2.) Can someone recommend a good controller?

Friend from work suggested that I get a full-size motherboard instead of the MICRO ATX.

So I am going with this one instead -
GIGABYTE GA-P55A-UD3 LGA 1156 Intel P55 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Will this definitely allow me to setup RAID -- assuming I order two SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 500GB SATA Hard Drives??

Product description says this -

Does this mean I can setup RAID 0 or RAID 1 without purchasing a separate RAID controller?

Should fit fine, from what I've found the card is 241mm, which is about the same depth as an ATX motherboard. If not, it looks like you can always remove the top disk bay to make space.

Just made two minor adjustments:

1.) Switched to "wired" keyboard and mouse -

neither....that case is specifically made for the CP-850.....which is far better quality than the other two....check the reviews on jonnyguru.com of the two you selected versus the CP series and you'll see what I mean.

Since you only have one slot, consider a dual GPU card ... $10 gets you a step up on the performance tiers and the 850 PSU easily handles it.
