This is the build i'm going with.
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/FyfJXP
My questions as a new builder are
1. Should I go for after market thermal paste
2. Any good cable extension recommendations
3. Also need a couple extra fans if you all have any in mind.
Lastly, this might be a dumb question but would you go 1080p for higher fps or 1440p for better resolution?

Solution
Very solid build. Paste the cooler comes with is fine. There are miner differences in thermal conductivity but your looking at 1 maybe 2 degrees and since you're on water i wouldn't worry.

Regarding monitor, that 2070 can easily drive 1440p above 60fps. Id go 1440p personally because the resolution is nice, don't need antialiasing (more fps) and 27" is a good size. If you can afford one with gsync it'll improve your experience a lot.

maybe extensions isn't what I should have said. I was wanting colored cords to try and make it look a little nicer

I plan on attempting overclocking the cpu in the future once I've done a lot more research. Should I get a OC version of the 2070 or is there a particular brand which is best?

Wouldn't bother oc graphics cards imo, only get maybe 5fps (if that) extra. Overclocking cpu will be different story though because you dont have Hyperthreading, you may see high cpu usages in some games depending on frame rates.

If you are planning to install some games to the hard drive, rather than just using it for bulk data storage, it might be worth going with a 7200 RPM model, as that should be a bit better for load times. Or, if you don't think you'll need quite that much storage in the system, you could consider going with a 1TB SSD and leaving out the hard drive entirely.

I just found the same brand/size for $8 more for the 7200rpm. thanks for the tip.
