Orico enclosure power

Hi,
I brought an orico enclosure for my 1tb external hard drive. Everything looks good, turn on the power and it comes up with the blue power light but when I push the external drive in place the power turns off. The light flashes blue and red then turns off when the drive is slotted in place.
Any ideas?

Are you able to access this 1 TB HDD internally via SATA? Is it a desktop or a mobile hard drive? I'd advise you to attempt to access the drive internally first and make sure that it's working properly. If it is, then you should definitely try swapping the USB cable that is connecting the enclosure to the computer. If you have access to another PC/laptop, I'd also try to connect the external enclosure there and see how the HDD would get recognized.
If this is a 3.5" desktop drive, the USB connection alone won't be enough to power it up, so you will need an enclosure that has an additional AC adapter as well. I'd also suggest you check how the drive is detected in Disk Management in Windows while connecting internally as well as externally. Posting some screenshots (e.g. Imgur) would be really helpful, too.
