Hello,
I have built my own PCs for at least the last 25 to 30 years. The "building bug" actually began with my first computer which was a kit called the Altair 8800 which I put together in the mid-70s. Unfortunately, my disability has progressed to the point where I no longer built my own systems so I have come to the point for the first time in many years that I am in the market for a "custom-built PC".
I am considering purchasing a new PC from the Origin PCs Genesis line. The case that I am interested in is the Corsair 7000D Airflow. If I buy this Corsair case directly from Corsair or places like Amazon it comes with two cages that hold three 3 1/2 hard drives each. Just to be safe that the system I order from Origin PC would have or support both hard drive cages, I reached out to Origin PC. Unfortunately, the response was pretty generic stating that none of their systems support the number of hard drives I want and suggested that I subscribe to their newsletter so I would know when and if such a system was ever offered. Thinking that perhaps I didn't make myself clear or that they didn't read my question fully, I wrote back again asking if that particular build that I had configured would support the forward hard drive cage. I basically received the same scripted response.
Since Origin PC seems to either be unwilling to or incapable of answering my question, I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask here. I am wondering if anyone else has ordered a custom PC from Origin PC with this particular case? I am opting for a Corsair iCUE H150i enclosed CPU cooler as opposed to a cooling system that requires a separate reservoir. I was thinking that if I wasn't going to need a reservoir, there should be enough room for the forward hard drive cage? If this is true, I could easily order another hard drive cage and mount in the forward position from the first hard drive cage.
Has anyone done this and if so doesn't require any major modifications?
